The following table lists the employee pay element references you can use in operand values for complex pay element formulae.

Ref Description Valid for PE Types Explanation

Fixed pay element amt

Fixed pay element rate

Fixed pay element unit

N, C, P

R

R

The system takes the fixed value associated with the designated pay element for the employee. This is obtained from the Fixed Pay Elements Detail screen.

Unadjusted amount

Unadjusted rate

N, R, C, P

R

R

The system takes the value of the pay element without applying any formula that is present.
BA Reducing balance N, R, C, P The system uses the employee's reducing balance brought in for the pay element, as of the start of a pay run.
IA Accumulated balance N, R, C, P

The system uses the employee’s accumulated balance brought in for the pay element, as of the start of a pay run.

The specified pay element must have been set up to store an accumulated balance.

PE Fixed pension percentage P The system takes the fixed percentage value associated with the designated pay element for the employee. This is obtained from the Fixed Pay Elements Detail screen.
JA Period amount plus period-to-date N, R, C, P The system takes the current pay period value of the designated pay element and adds in any employee values for the period-to-date in a supplementary run.
KA Period-to-date only N, R, C, P

The system takes the period-to-date employee value of the designated pay element in a supplementary run.

A typical use of the JA and KA mnemonics is when calculating a value where a test against a period threshold is required. JA[nnnn] would be used to derive the gross value for the period as a whole, and the resultant amount would need to be reduced by KA[nnnn] to derive the net amount for the current supplementary run.
