Enables you to enter the pay elements to use in a pension scheme, including adding new pay elements if required.

New pay elements created from this screen have only a name and description. Once you save the pension scheme, the Maintain Pay Element Definition screen is displayed for each pay element created during this process. This enables you to add the full details of the new Pay Elements.

All pay elements entered or selected on this screen must be greater than or equal to 1000.

General

P.E

The ID of the selected Pay Element.

Copy From

If creating a new Pay Element, you can choose to copy all details from an existing Pay Element. If you do not choose to copy an existing Pay Element, the new Pay Element will have only a long and short description and will need to be fully configured later.

Long Description

The long description of the selected Pay Element. If creating a new Pay Element, enter a description of up to 40 characters.

Short Description

The short description of the selected Pay Element. If creating a new Pay Element, enter a description of up to 10 characters.

Pension Rule Type

Applicable to Type 12 pension schemes only. Enter the code that represents the pension rule, or select one from the drop-down list.

Auto Enrolment

Withhold P. E

Mandatory if the scheme has an AES Type of AES or NEST. The ID of the Withholding Pay Element. This Pay Element must be a Deduction of type N. If the selected scheme is a Salary Sacrifice scheme, the Pay Element must also be Notional.

If the Pay Element set here is created using this screen with descriptions only, ensure that these fields are correctly set when adding the full details later.

Copy From

If creating a new Pay Element, you can choose to copy all details from an existing Pay Element. If you do not choose to copy an existing Pay Element, the new Pay Element will have only a long and short description and will need to be fully configured later.

Refund P.E

Optional. Enter the Refund Pay Element. If a Refund Pay Element is entered, a Refund Pay Element must also be entered in the Salary Sacrifice section.

Mandatory if the selected scheme is a Salary Sacrifice scheme with an AES Type of AES or NEST. The ID of the Withholding Pay Element. This Pay Element must be a Payment of type N.

If the Pay Element set here is created using this screen with descriptions only, ensure that it is configured as a Payment of type N when adding the full details later.
