S, S.C, Pens, Rd

Some of the benefits awarded by your organisation may depend on the length of service achieved by an employee; for example, holiday entitlement. In some cases, it may be required for the length of a break in service to count towards an employee’s entitlement to such benefits.

These four fields enable you to specify whether that is the case for the following benefits:

To include the length of the break in service (that is, the number of days displayed in the Days field), enter Y in the appropriate fields.

For example, if employees are entitled to one extra day’s holiday for every year’s service, and an employee has had a one year break in service, entering Y in the S.Con field entitles the employee to one extra day’s holiday.

These four fields default to N for breaks in service. N indicates that the break is not included in the length of service calculations.

Rb

Enter Y to extend the rollback period by the selected break in service.

U1, U2

These fields are used for alternative service calculations, which are only used when accessing monetary tables. They work in exactly the same way as the S, S.Con, Pens and Red fields described above.

Enter Y if breaks in service are included when calculating the length of service from the original start date, or the current start date respectively.
