Offline Scheduler Troubleshooting
Note: Use the Zellis support portal to contact our product support team before using the scheduler for the first time, as some aspects of the scheduler need to be customised for each user and these cannot be done automatically when the software is set up.
Also, the software service which controls scheduled and timed processing must be active on the server to which you are connected. This varies depending on the operating system. Check with your own technical department before using the scheduler.
Setting up a scheduled task
Q. |
I set up the task to run TODAY or IMMED, but it now displays NEXT. |
A. |
This is correct. Your entry is converted to the next applicable date and time relative to when you set up the task; for example, TODAY @ 14:00 set up at 10.00 a.m. on a Wednesday will show as NEXT Wed. 14:00. |
Q. |
I set up a task, and the time for it to run has passed, but it does not display DONE. |
A. |
The most likely cause is that the scheduler service is not running on your server, or that the ResourceLink scheduler has not yet been customised to suit your server. Double check the day and time relative to the current day and time. |
Q. |
A telnet window is displayed when I commit, prompting me for a password. |
A. |
You have connected to ResourceLink using a development user. Please log off and re-connect using a run-time user. You should then commit again to ensure the scheduled tasks run correctly. |
Task completion
Q. |
My task shows DONE, but appears not to have carried out the process. |
A. |
To bring up messages in the Messages box, open the View Previous Run Messages window and double click the day and time entry for your task. Refer to the following questions. |
Q. |
There is no date and time entry for my task. |
A. |
Use the Zellis support portal to contact our product support team. |
Q. |
No messages are shown. |
A. |
Double-click the line to show its messages. If you have done this and there are still no messages, use the Zellis support portal to contact our product support team. |
Q. |
The Task Started message displays without a Task Ended message. |
A. |
The task may still be running; exit from the scheduler screen and try later. Remember some processes, such as large payroll calculates, can take a long time. If the task has still not completed, you may be able to determine the reason by viewing other messages; for example, access to the task is not allowed or the Group List specified in the parameters did not exist. If there is no evident reason why the task did not complete, contact Customer Services for assistance. |
Q. |
The Task Ended message is shown, but the results are not as expected. |
A. |
Refer to any progress or error messages for tasks that have started but not ended, which may indicate why the task failed. Check that you completed the Task Parameters window for the task correctly; for example, are any numeric items such as period number entered with leading zeros? |
