Paging Area

Date

Enter the effective date of the tax details.

Source

Enter the source of the tax details, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the IETXSC narrative category. This field must be set to P45 or P46 if the employee should be included in the P45 Part 3 or P46 XML extracts respectively.

Letter

Enter the applicable tax table letter for the employee. You can enter X if the employee is fully exempt from tax, in which case all other fields will be disabled except the Year field. When the tax calculation is run, employees marked with an X are excluded, however, any tax arrears or overrides of tax are still processed for them.

Excl Ord Date

Enter the PAYE Exclusion Order Effective Date for the employee. This field is mandatory if the tax table letter code is X and is disabled for other tax table letter codes.

Note: The PAYE Exclusion Order Effective Date dictates different rules regarding Tax & USC refunds. If the Exclusion Order date is 1st January of the tax year, a Tax & USC refund can be processed. If the Exclusion Order date is any other day of the tax year (E.g. a mid year order), no Tax or USC refund will be processed.

Basis

Select this check box if a non-cumulative basis applies. This check box is mandatory if table letter E was entered. When you create new details the default is selected.

Year

This field is only enabled if the effective date is before 01/01/2019. Select this check box to allow the employee’s table and allowance values to continue across the tax year end. Refer to the latest legislation for applicability.

Exempt

Select this check box to indicate that this employee’s tax is to be calculated using the statutory exemption rates.

Emerg Wks

The emergency tax weeks. The system updates this field during pay cycle termination and clears it at tax year-end. However, you can amend it if required, for example, to correct a mistake, or when first setting up the payroll. It shows the number of weeks the employee’s tax has been calculated on an emergency basis, if applicable. If a new RPN is received, the emergency tax weeks value will not be copied to the new tax year. If there is no RPN and the employee was on emergency tax, the emergency tax weeks value will be copied to the new tax year.
