Enables you to maintain monetary table and pension table versions and details. You should then set up the table values for the table in Maintain Monetary Table.

Selection

Table Name

Enter the ID of the table you want to maintain, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Select Table.

If the table does not exist, a prompt is displayed allowing you to create the new table.

General

Long, Short Description

Enter full and abbreviated descriptions respectively, to represent this table throughout the system.

Table Type

Select the type of table from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the TBLTYP narrative category. For pension tables, the options are set up in the PSGTYP narrative category.

Obsolete Date

Enter the date on which this table becomes obsolete.

Age Pro Rate

Only available for RATED type Monetary Tables with one of the Derivation types set to AGE. If this check box is selected and an employee's birthday occurs during a pay period, the payroll calculate will evaluate the monetary table at both the start of the pay period and at the birthday, pro-rating the pay element value as necessary.

Temp Back Payable

Select this check box to include any temporary pay elements in the monetary table release processing for the selected table. Defaults to blank for any new monetary tables.

Row/Col Details

Row Desc

Enter a descriptive name for the rows (vertical axis) if you are entering row characteristics.

Deriv. Type

Select a derivation type from the drop-down list if you want the row value to be determined by information that is specific to the employee, otherwise leave blank. The options are set up in the TBLDRV narrative category. For pension tables, the options are set up in the PSGDRV narrative category.

If you select the ACCUM derivation type, you can select the required accumulator in the adjacent field by clicking window to display Pay Element Selection.

If you select a length of service derivation type, you can choose whether the length of service is expressed in days, weeks, months or years in the adjacent field. The options are set up in the CASDTY narrative category.

Deriv. Action

Enter the code of the required derivation action, which is used to identify the row in the monetary table from which values are derived, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the TBLACT narrative category. For pension tables, the options are set up in the PSGACT narrative category.

The following derivation actions are available for rows:

Action Description
E (Exact) A value is only derived from the row where the row co-ordinate is an exact match. For example, if the row represents age with row co-ordinates at 10 year intervals; 20, 30, 40 etc, an employee age of 30 would return a value from the row with a co-ordinate of 30, whereas an age of 35 would not return a value.
N (Next) A value is derived from the next row where the row co-ordinate is not an exact match. In the age example, an employee age of 35 would return a value from the row with a co-ordinate of 40.
O (Axis Off) Used if there is only one row co-ordinate to signify that the row co-ordinates can be ignored.
P (Previous) A value is derived from the previous row where the row co-ordinate is not an exact match. In the age example, an employee age of 35 would return a value from the row with a co-ordinate of 30.

Column Desc

Enter a descriptive name for the columns (or horizontal axis) if you are entering column characteristics.

Deriv. Type

Select a derivation type from the drop-down list if you want the column value to be determined by information that is specific to the employee, otherwise leave blank. The options are set up in the TBLDRV narrative category. For pension tables, the options are set up in the PSGDRV narrative category.

Action Description
E (Exact) A value is only derived from the column where the column co-ordinate is an exact match. For example, if the column represents service with column co-ordinates at 5 year intervals; 5, 10, 15 etc, an employee with 5 years service would return a value from the column with a co-ordinate of 5, whereas a service of 7 years would not return a value.
N (Next) A value is derived from the next column where the column co-ordinate is not an exact match. In the service example, an employee with 7 years service would return a value from the column with a co-ordinate of 10.
O (Axis Off) Used if there is only one column co-ordinate to signify that the column co-ordinates can be ignored.
P (Previous) A value is derived from the previous column where the column co-ordinate is not an exact match. In the service example, an employee with 7 years service would return a value from the column with a co-ordinate of 5.

Paging Area

When adding a new version of the monetary table, Copy Monetary Table is displayed where you can copy an existing monetary table and specify the changes applicable to the new version.

Start Date

The effective date of the table version.

Lowest, Highest (Numeric Row Co-Ordinates)

The lowest and highest values respectively that can be entered in this table’s row co-ordinate headers if this table has numeric rows.

Lowest, Highest (Numeric Column Co-Ordinates)

The lowest and highest values respectively that can be entered in this table’s column co-ordinate headers if this table has numeric columns.

Auth

Enter Y to authorise the completed monetary table. When a new version of a table is created, it is initially unauthorised. This ensures that this version does not become effective until it is ready.

A table version is used only when the version Start Date has been reached and it has been authorised. Otherwise, the previous authorised version is used.

Note: If your system is set up for user group authorisation of monetary tables, the ability to authorise tables is restricted to members of particular user groups. In addition, you must complete the Action field detailed below.

Action

Enter one of the following to authorise the monetary table if the system has been set up for authorisation of monetary tables by user groups.

A To request authorisation, or accept a previous request for authorisation.
R To reject a request for authorisation, providing A has been entered previously.
C To de-authorise a previously authorised monetary table, and allow changes to it once again.
D To de-authorise a previously authorised monetary table, and allow it to be deleted.

Originator

Display only. The ID of the operator who created this monetary table.
