Enables you to maintain details for the selected narrative category.

General

Narrative Category

Display only. The ID of the currently selected narrative category code.

Category Description

Enter a description of the narrative category.

Code Template

Enter a valid template for this code, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Template Selection.

Additional Heading

Enter a new label to display for the Details field in Maintain Narrative Category Codes. This should be a descriptive term for the additional details required.

Short Description Length, Long Description Length

Enter the number of characters allowed for the short and long descriptions of the narrative codes in the category. Ensure you allow sufficient characters to enter a meaningful description in each field. The maximum number of characters you can specify is 10 for short descriptions, and 40 for long descriptions.

Additional Details

Enter Y to enable additional details to be entered against the narrative codes associated with this narrative category.

Note: The following four fields are only enabled if additional details are permitted, as they relate to the format of the additional details required.

Format

Enter A - alphabetic, N - numeric or X - alphanumeric to indicate the format of the additional details.

Length

Enter the required length of the additional details by entering the number of characters permitted. This can be up to ten characters in length.

Optional

Enter Y if entering additional details against narrative codes in this narrative category is optional.

Var. Length

Enter Y if the additional details can be of variable length, that is, the length can be less than the value specified in the Length field.

Note: The following three fields are only displayed if the MISC > COUNTRY > MULTI system parameter is set to Y.

Country Dets: ALL Countries

Enter Y if this narrative category applies to all countries. If this field is blank or set to N, you can specify the individual countries to which this narrative category applies / does not apply in the following two fields.

Exclude

Enter Y if you want to define a list of countries to which this narrative category does not apply (excluded), or leave blank to define a list of countries to which this narrative category does apply (included). You define the list of countries in the following field.

Country Ids

Click WINDOW to display Country ID List Maintenance, where you can specify the countries that are included or excluded for this narrative category.

Market Sector

Enter one of the following to indicate the market sector to which this narrative category applies:

Note: The Allow Country Ids on Codes field is only displayed if the MISC > COUNTRY > MULTI system parameter is set to Y.

Allow Country Ids on Codes

Enter Y if country specific narrative codes can exist within this narrative category. If this is set to Y, you can then specify the countries applicable to each narrative code in Maintain Narrative Category Codes.

User Amendable

Display only. Displays one of the following codes to indicate whether users can make changes to the narrative category via this window and Maintain Narrative Category Codes:

When you create your own narrative categories, this field is automatically set to Y and cannot be changed.
