Rate Calculation Parameters
Enables you to set up calculation parameters that are used to work out rates of pay for specific parts of the system. The rate parameters used depend on the employee’s service conditions.
Selection
Rate Parameter
Enter the ID of the rate parameter that you want to maintain, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Rate Calculation Parameter Selection.
If the rate parameter does not exist, a prompt is displayed allowing you to create the new parameter.
General
Short, Long Description
Enter a short and full description (up to 10 and 40 characters respectively) to clearly identify these parameters throughout the system.
Obsolete Date
Enter the date on which these rate calculation parameters become obsolete.
Rate Or Amount
Enter A to calculate the amount per day, or enter R to calculate the rate per hour.
Rounding Type
Enter D for downwards (0.9999 down), U for upwards (0.0001 up), or N for natural (0.4999 down, 0.5 up), or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the RNDACT narrative category. Alternatively, leave blank to prevent rounding, which means the exact amount is used in other areas of the system that use rate calculation parameters such as leave management.
You can decide whether you want the fraction to be always rounded downwards (truncated), always rounded upwards, or to be rounded up or down depending on whether the fraction is less than or is at least equal to half a penny. For example, 1.4568679 would become 1.4568 (Downwards), or 1.4569 (Upwards).
Rounding Amount
Enter the amount to which the calculated amount should be rounded up to or down to, for example, entering 0.50 would mean 1.4568679 would become 1.5000.
Monetary Table
Enter the ID of the monetary table that you want used in the rate calculation, or select one by clicking window to display Select Monetary Table. If you select a monetary table, you can include the MTAB - Monetary Table mnemonic in the rate parameter formula via Rate Calculation Details Maintenance.
The mnemonic and monetary table combination is used to return an employee's rate of pay based on derived monetary table values.
Note: You can also leave this field blank and still include the MTAB mnemonic in the rate parameter formula. In which case, the employee's rate of pay is based on derived values from a monetary table attached to the employee's fixed pay elements. The pay element used is identified by its inclusion in the pay element category specified in the MISC > MTAB > CATEGORY system parameter.
