Parental Leave Details
Enables you to enter maternity, paternity and adoption absences and calculate statutory pay if an employee is entitled.
General
Due/Matching Date
Enter the expected date of birth or matching date previously assigned if you want to maintain existing maternity, paternity or adoption details, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Employee MPP Selection. You can set up new maternity, paternity or adoption details for an employee by clicking + and entering the expected date of the birth or the matching date.
Type
Enter the code of the parental leave type, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the PLTYPE narrative category.
Note: When you enter new maternity, paternity or adoption details, Parental Leave Processing Dates is displayed for you to enter details of parental leave processing dates.
Details
Payments Start Date, Start Yr/Prd
Display only. The parental leave pay period start date, and the tax year and period in which parental leave payments started, as entered in Parental Leave Processing Dates.
Note: The following four fields show the statutory detail followed by the occupational detail under Statutory and Occupational headings.
APP Start Date
Display only. The start date of the Additional Paternity Pay (APP).
Mother Deceased
Select this check box if the mother is deceased. If selected, the APP Start Date can be less than 20 weeks after the date of birth. Only available for paternity birth / adoption records.
Pay End Date
Enter the end date of the statutory and occupational pay periods. A default is calculated from the date in the Payments Start Date field and the applicable parental leave entitlement rules, which can be amended.
Average/Normal Pay
Display only. The latest Average Pay value used for statutory calculations, and the latest Normal Pay value used for occupational payments. You can add new date-effective average and Normal Pay values in Historic Average Pay and Historic Normal Pay, which are accessed from the AVERAGE PAY and NORMAL PAY buttons respectively.
If either of these values cannot be calculated, a warning is displayed, and you can enter the values in Historic Average Pay or Historic Normal Pay as appropriate.
Total Paid
Display only. The total amount of parental leave pay that has been paid to the employee.
Completed
Display only. Indicates if the parental leave period has ended.
Notional Earnings
Display only. The notional earnings of the employee while on parental leave, used in the pay calculate for the employer's pension contribution. Only available if the employee is a member of a pension scheme and a notional pay element has been defined against it.
Calculate Payment
Enter Y to calculate the payment details and the start date of each parental leave pay period. Pay Period View is displayed where you can view the payment details created:
- If the payment details have already been created, but no payments made, the payment details are re-created using the current payments start date and period.
- If payments have been made, all paid values are reversed and re-created using the relevant average and Normal Pay amounts. Arrears are created for periods that have already been paid.
APP Details
Select this check box to indicate that APP details have been requested. Only available for maternity / adoption records.
Mortality Ind
Enter the mortality indicator relevant to this parental leave period if applicable, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the PLMORT narrative category which typically includes reasons such as stillborn.
KIT Days
Click window to display Parental Leave Keep in Touch Days, where you can record KIT days for the employee on parental leave.
Buttons
Pay Period View
Click this button to display Pay Period View, where you can view the parental leave payment details by pay period.
Weekly Detail
Click this button to display Weekly View, where you can view the parental leave payment details by weeks based on statutory week numbers.
Average Pay
Click this button to display Historic Average Pay, where you can view and record new date-effective Average Pay details.
Normal Pay
Click this button to display Historic Normal Pay, where you can view and record new date-effective Normal Pay details.
Processing Dates
Click this button to display Parental Leave Processing Dates, where you can enter details of parental leave processing dates.
Other Details
Click this button to display Parental Leave Other Details, where you can enter other parental leave details including notifying exclusions and releasing payments.
NI Grosses
Click this button to display Employee National Insurance History Lookup, where you can view all payments received by the employee.
Notes
Click this button to display Maintain Note Detail, where you can enter any notes or comments you want to record.
APP
Click this button to display Additional Paternity Pay Details, where you can enter further details specific to APP and initiate the daily payment details calculation.
Note: The APP button is only available for B and C type completed paternity records. If a completed paternity record does not exist, then a dummy completed record must be set up prior to adding an APP record.
To create the dummy record. set all paid indicators for the paternity record to Y and run the Bulk Amend, which makes all such records complete.
The completed record status will be removed when an APP record is created for the employee.
