National Minimum Wage/Living Wage Parameters
Enables you to specify the age bands and National Minimum Wage (NMW) for each band for a selected effective date.

Selection
Legislation
Enter the legislation of the NMW parameters that you want to maintain or select one from the drop-down list.
If the legislation does not exist, a prompt is displayed allowing you to create the new NMW parameters. Only valid UK and IE legislative types will be accepted.
Effective Date
Enter the effective date of the NMW parameters that you want to maintain or select one from the drop-down list.
If the effective date does not exist, a prompt is displayed allowing you to create the new NMW parameters.
General
Apprentice Rate
Enter the NMW rate for an apprentice younger than the age in the Year One Age field. This field is for UK legislation types only. This field is used for both the NMW check within salary sacrifice and the NMW/NLW (national living wage) monitoring functionality.
Year One Age
Enter the age limit for an apprentice. Apprentices at or over this limit will get the Apprentice Rate for the first year of apprenticeship regardless of their age. This field is for UK legislation types only. This field is used for both the NMW check within salary sacrifice and the NMW/NLW monitoring functionality.
Weeks in Year
Enter the weeks in year value to be used in the minimum wage check. This value will also be used in salary sacrifice functionality. The default is 52.143. This field is used for both the NMW check within salary sacrifice and the NMW/NLW monitoring functionality.
NMW Reporting
The fields in this section are used for the NMW/NLW monitoring functionality.
Real Living Wage Rate
Enter the real living wage rate for an employee over the age in the Age field. This field is for UK legislation types only. This field is used for the RRS NMW/NLW monitoring functionality only.
The real living wage is set by the Living Wage Foundation. The rates are announced on Monday of the first week of November each year.
Age
Enter the age limit for an employee who is eligible for the real living wage. This field is for UK legislation types only. This field is used for the RRS NMW/NLW monitoring functionality only.
Earnings Gross
Enter the earnings gross accumulator pay element identifier to be used in the minimum wage calculation.
Addl Hrs PE Category
Enter the additional hours pay element category to be included in the minimum wage calculation. This is for situations where the employee works more than the contract hours specified on the Conditions tab accessed via Employee Post Holding Details, or for time workers.
Exclude Earnings PE Category
Enter the pay element category containing earnings to be excluded from the minimum wage calculation, for example, benefits in kind.
Exclude Hours PE Category
Enter the pay element category containing hours to be excluded from the minimum wage calculation.
Period Hours Calculation
Enter the source of the hours to be used in the minimum wage calculation. This field is mandatory. You can enter C (contract hours) or W (work pattern). The default value is C.
This only applies to the salary calculation type and not the unmeasured calculation type. The Period Hours Calculation field must be updated at control group level in Control Group NMW Details or employee level in Employee NMW Details for the unmeasured calculation type.
Calc Year Start Date
This field is optional and is for UK legislation types only. Enter the calculation year start date for all salaried employees of all pay frequencies. Control groups or individual employees must be identified as salaried in Control Group NMW Details or Employee NMW Details. The field format is DDMM.
The calculation year is the period which is used to check whether a worker has worked more than their basic hours during the course of an identified annual period. Use this field if you have brought your workers under a uniform calculation year to align with other business cycles such as tax, annual leave, or accounting years. Alternatively, the employee's current start date will be used to calculate their NMW annually.
