Enables you to manage Power BI resources including reports, datasets and dashboards.

Navigation Panel Buttons

Reports

Click this button to access the Reports section. The number of reports available is displayed in brackets.

Datasets

Click this button to access the Datasets section. The number of datasets available is displayed in brackets.

Dashboards

Click this button to access the Dashboards section. The number of dashboards available is displayed in brackets.

Reports

This section lists all of the reports currently available from Power BI within ResourceLink.

Name

The report name. Click the name to view the report.

Dataset

The dataset that the report was built against. Display only.

Buttons

Edit

Click this button to open the report in edit mode in Power BI. Read-only reports do not have an active Edit button.

Delete

Click this button to delete the report from the list. Read-only reports cannot be deleted.

Add to Task

Click this button to create a new ResourceLink task. Clicking this button accesses Maintain Tasks.

Copy

Click this button to create a copy of the report. When naming a copied report, we recommend using a unique name, although this is not mandatory. A report cannot be renamed once it is created.

Clipboard Icon

Denotes that the report is linked to a task within ResourceLink. Click this button to show the task ID as well as a menu ID if the task has been linked to a menu. The menu ID is selectable and will allow you to access the relevant menu.

Datasets

This section lists all of the available datasets that are either already being used by reports or are available for new reports to be built against.

Name

The dataset name. Display only.

Last refresh

The date and time when the dataset was last refreshed. Display only.

Last refresh status

Denotes whether the last refresh was completed successfully or not. Completed (displayed in green text) indicates success. Failed (displayed in red text) indicates a failure. Display only.

Buttons

Refresh Now

Click this button to send a request for the dataset to be updated immediately. This process may take a few minutes and the status of the refresh is indicated on the button. When a refresh is in progress, this button is disabled. This button cannot be clicked within 30 minutes of the last refresh.

An alert is sent to the operator that initiated the refresh upon completion to report either success or failure.

Schedule Refresh

Datasets can be automatically refreshed on a schedule. Click this button to access Schedule Refresh to manage the day and time that a refresh will take place.

Note: The use of the Refresh Now and Schedule Refresh buttons may be subject to fair usage policies. Care should be taken when considering the use of these functions.

New Report

Click this button to access Power BI in edit mode and create a new report based on the selected dataset. When naming a new report, we recommend using a unique name, although this is not mandatory. A report cannot be renamed once it is created.

Dashboards

This section displays a list of dashboards which are only available via consultancy. You can view a dashboard, or link the dashboard to tasks and menus in ResourceLink.

Name

The dashboard name. Click the name to view the dashboard.
