Enables you to define further details of the User-Defined Fields (UDFs).

To access this window, enter fast path HR205S3 and window in to the Detail field.

General

Screen Ref

Display only. The ID and name of the screen for which you are maintaining the UDF.

Field

Display only. The text description of the UDF.

Characteristics

Key No

Only applies if the screen is a user-defined screen. If you want this UDF to be displayed on the main user-defined key fields screen, enter a number in the range 1 to 3 to specify whether the field is the first field, second field or third field. Leave this field blank if you want the UDF to displayed within the Details window, and complete the following field instead:

User Field Seq No

Enter a sequence number to determine the sequence in which the field is displayed, or select one from the drop-down list.

Text

Enter a short description of the field, which is displayed as the UDF name.

Dictionary Name

Enter a meaningful description of the field, which is used to access the information held in the field using the Ad Hoc Report Writer and the Standard Letters facilities.

Note: When entering Dictionary names, it is important to use either hyphens or full stops to separate words. Do not use spaces. You can use up to a maximum of 12 characters.

Type

Enter the code of the required input type, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the UDFTYP narrative category.

Validation

Mandatory

Enter Y if this field must be completed by the operator.

Template

This field is not currently used in ResourceLink.

Minimum Length

Enter the minimum number of characters an operator can enter in this field.

Maximum Length

Enter the maximum number of characters, up to 40, that an operator can enter in this field.

Range Minimum

This field is only used if the Type field selected contains numeric characters. Enter the minimum value that must be entered by the operator.

Range Maximum

This field is only used if the Type field selected contains numeric characters. Enter the maximum value that must be entered by the operator.

Narrative Category

Enter the ID of the narrative category that is associated with this field, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Narrative Category Selection.

Default Value

Enter the default value of this field.

Functional Validation

Note: The following fields are only available if the Type field is set to Date.

Function

A validation function must be applied to the date entered by the operator. Select one of the following functions from the drop-down list:

Link Field

This field is only used if you have selected the Date in LINK FIELD function and is used to compare this field with another date field on the same user screen. Enter the field name of the user-defined field that you want to access.

Operand

This field is only used if you have selected the Date in LINK FIELD function and is used to compare the date entered with another date field on the same user screen. Select the required operand from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the UDFOPR narrative category.

Modifier

This field is only used if you have selected the Birth Date + MODIFIER YEARS function which requires a comparison with a specified number of years. Enter a number between 0.01 and 99999.99.

General

Help Message

Enter a help message to be displayed to the operator in association within this field.

Note: Once you have created your new screen and have defined all the fields contained within it, the screen can be attached to a Task in preparation for testing and operator input.

Trigger Event

Enter Y if a change to this field should trigger an event.

MyView Process

Click this button to display MyView UDF Processes, where you can view the processes to which the selected UDF is associated.
