Enables you to specify which structure units within the hierarchy the user can access.

General

Hierarchy ID

Display only. The hierarchy specified against the selected security profile.

Enable Hierarchy Maintenance

Select this check box to limit access to structure units when maintaining a hierarchy via Structure Unit Grouping. If selected, the operator with this security profile can only access structure units specified in this window.

Note: Once access restrictions for a hierarchy have been set against a security profile, you can only view the first level of all other hierarchies. In addition, the ADD UNIT and DELETE UNIT buttons are disabled to prevent the operator making changes to the hierarchy.

Enable Post Security

Select this check box to enable security access levels to be specified against each structure unit within the hierarchy.

Paging Area

Structure, Long Description, Lvl

Display only. These fields indicate the structure unit's ID, description, and the level it holds within the hierarchy. You cannot maintain these details from within this field.

Y/N/E

Enter one of the following to specify access levels against each structure unit for operators with the selected security profile:

• Y - allows access to this structure unit, and all associated posts and employee records. This enables posts attached to this structure unit to be maintained via Maintain Post Details.
• E - allows access to associated employee records only.
• N - prevents access to this structure unit, and all associated posts and employee records.

Cascade

If you entered Y in the above field, you can use the Cascade field to cascade the access permission to all of this structure unit's subordinates (i.e. its 'children'). To cascade access permission to subordinates, enter Y. The process is then carried out automatically; when this is complete, the Y indicator in this field is removed.

U/D

Enables you to move around the hierarchy to indicate access permissions for other levels. Enter U to move up the hierarchy one level (i.e. to the parent of the current structure unit), or D to move down the hierarchy one level (i.e. to the children of the current structure unit). The structure units displayed in this window then change to those of the level you select.
