Enables you to set up and maintain basic details for a post, such as the post description and start date.

Note: The jobs, locations and work patterns used on this screen must already have been set up using the appropriate maintenance screens.

To access this window, enter fast path HRPOST.

General

Job Number

Identifies the job for which this post is being created. Enter the appropriate job code, or click WINDOW and select one in Job Selection.

Post

Display only. The selected post.

Short Desc

The short description entered against the job (via Job Detail). You can override it, if required, by clicking WINDOW to display Maintain Post Title History Details. The short description is used to search through posts in Post Selection.

Payslip Language Descs

Click window to display Foreign Languages, where you can specify descriptions for the post in other languages, which can be used on payslips.

Long Description

The full description of the post. This can be amended by clicking WINDOW in the Short Desc field.

Freeze Start Date

Enter the start date of the post freeze.

Freeze End Date

Enter the end date of the post freeze.

Grade

Display only. The grade entered against the job.

Current Location

Display only. The current location entered in Post Location, which identifies where the post is based.

Work Pattern

The work pattern applied to a post identifies days of the week and hours of each day that post holders should work. Enter a work pattern code, or select one from the drop-down list.

Additional Information

Post Class

Enter the classification code for reporting purposes, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the PSTCLS narrative category. The classification code might be used to group all management positions under the heading ‘management’, or all typing and administration posts under the heading ‘secretarial’.

Start Date

Enter the date from which this post becomes effective.

Obsolete Date

Enter the date on which this post becomes obsolete. A warning is displayed if any employees still occupy the post or if the date entered is prior to the current date.

Note: If the post is attached to any vacancies, a dialog box is displayed asking if you want to close the associated vacancies. If you select YES, the following are updated as appropriate: Vacancy Status field in Vacancy Detail Maintenance, Vacancy Status History, Vacancy Close Date field in Vacancy Dates.

Grade Usage Level

Post grade usage level. The system compares this level with an employee’s grade usage level to determine whether or not the pay grade can be overridden. When you create a post, the system automatically allocates to it the default post grade usage level, as set in System Grade Usage Levels. You can enter a number between 0 and 9 in this field to change the post grade usage levels.

Note: Changing the post grade usage level after employees have been linked to the post may corrupt their history records in Employee Grade History.

Pensionable Flag

Enter Y if the post is pensionable.

Freeze Recruitment

Enter Y to freeze further recruitment to the post.

Hierarchy View

Display only. Enables you to view the position of the post within the structure of a hierarchy. Click WINDOW to display Hierarchy Selection.

Needs Succession Plan

Select this check box if a succession plan is required for this post.

Has Succession Plan

Display only. Indicates if a succession plan has been created for this post.

Exclude from Apprenticeship Levy

Select this check box to exclude this post from the calculations for the Apprenticeship Levy.

Hide from Talent Pool

Select this check box to exclude employees on this post from appearing in the nine-box grid in the Talent View.

Buttons

FTE

Click this button to display Post Full-Time Equivalent which displays the latest planned Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) hours entered in Post FTE Details.

Establishment

Click this button to display Post Basic Detail Maintenance, where you can specify the working hours associated with the post.

Location

Click this button to display Post Location, where you can specify the location of the post.

Grade

Click this button to display Post Grade History, where you can specify the grade that applies to the post.

Attend Param

Click this button to display Assign Attendance Parameter, where you can attach an attendance parameter set to the selected post.

More Dets

Click this button to display Further Post Basic Details, where you can maintain details about post funding and authorisation.

Roles

Click this button to display Hierarchy Positioning Roles, where you can allocate one or more hierarchy positioning role codes against the selected post.

Tal Mgmt Role

Click this button to display Post Talent Management Role, where you can attach a talent management role to the post.

User Fields

Click this button to display Simple User-Defined Field Data if user-defined fields have been set up by your system administrator. These are extra fields used to record additional information that are specific to your organisation.

Notes

Click this button to display Maintain Note Detail, where you can enter any notes or comments you want to record.

JE Scores

Click this button to display Maintain Post Job Evaluation Scores, where you can set job evaluation scores against posts and derive the default grade.
