Default Based Pay Elements
Relevant default based pay elements are automatically added to the employee when one of the following events occur:
- a control group is added to an employee.
- a post or job is added to an employee.
- a new starter is created.
Note: The default based pay element is added against the post of EMPLOYEE, or the employee’s post holding, depending on the setting in the Element Level field in Miscellaneous Details.
In addition to being specified in this screen, the pay element must also be assigned to one of the following pay element categories to enable the pay element to be automatically added to an employee:
- ADDPE - pay elements in this category are system pay elements, which are automatically added to a new starter with the same start date as the employee.
- xxADPE - pay elements in this category are country specific system pay elements that operate as above, where xx is the country ID.
- ADDPEC - pay elements in this category are automatically added to the employee if the pay element also exists as a default based pay element against the control group being added to the employee. The pay element start date is set the same as the employee’s control group effective date.
- ADDPEP - post / job based pay elements. Pay elements in this category are automatically added to the employee if the pay element also exists as a default based pay element against the post or job being added to the employee. The pay element start date is set the same as the post or job start date.This functionality only applies when a post is added via Employee Current Post Details.
- ADDPEG - grade based pay elements. Pay elements in this category are automatically added to the employee if the pay element also exists as a default based pay element against the grade being added to the employee. The pay element start date is set the same as the grade start date.
- ADDPEL - location based pay elements. Pay elements in this category are automatically added to the employee if the pay element also exists as a default based pay element against the location being added to the employee. The pay element start date is set the same as the location start date.
To access this window, enter fast path HRPOST, HRGRADE, or HRJOB and select Default Pay Elements from the navigation panel.

Display only. The pay element code.
Desc
Display only. The description of the pay element.
Amount, Units, Rate
Display only. The amount, units and rates values specified against the R type pay element in R Type Pay Elements.
