A disciplinary record is a combination of a disciplinary type and a warning level. You can record an employee’s disciplinary history via Employee Case Management.

Before using the Disciplinary Records screen, you must set up disciplinary types, warning levels and parameters. These should reflect your organisation’s own disciplinary procedures including, for example, verbal warnings, written warnings, suspension, and dismissal.

To set up disciplinary types, warning levels and parameters:

  1. Set up disciplinary types and warning levels by creating the appropriate narrative codes. Narrative codes for disciplinary types and warning levels are linked to the DSCTYP and DSCWRN narrative categories respectively.
  2. Use the Disciplinary Record Parameters option to set default review and deletion periods for the various combinations of disciplinary types and warning levels you want to use within your disciplinary procedure.

Note: You can delete expired disciplinary records using the Disciplinary Records Batch Deletion option.

If required, you can use the ResourceLink diary facility to provide automatic reminders of disciplinary review dates. To provide automatic reminders, set up the diary event trigger for disciplinary reviews (DSCRVW narrative category) using the System Events facility.
