Remuneration Packages
Note: The Remuneration Packages area of functionality is in the process of being removed from ResourceLink and will be completely removed in a future release. In it's place, it is recommended that customers use the Employee Flexible Benefits functionality.
This section describes the options that enable employees or their managers to specify a remuneration package to suit their individual circumstances. It means that the value of the various benefits can be adjusted while keeping the overall value of the package the same. For example, an employee might decide to increase their car allowance but reduce the value of the company share option.
A remuneration package comprises a number of elements that contribute to the overall remuneration value – possible examples of remuneration elements are salary, health insurance, company car, company shares, and so on. The value of a remuneration package is the total value of the elements it contains. You can adjust the value of an element by choosing from one of the options that have been specified for it – for example, for an element called ‘company car’, the different options could be car models of different values.
To assign a remuneration package to an employee, you link it to the post that he or she holds. This enables the employee or their manager to model the package by adjusting its element options. When modelling is finished, the remuneration package must be authorised to apply its value to the employee’s pay elements.
If required, you can apply weightings to remuneration options. Weighting enables you to express the value-to-the-employee of an option by enhancing its value. The enhanced value is called the evaluated value. ResourceLink calculates the evaluated value by multiplying the weighting by the actual value. For example, in the case of a company car, you could apply a weighting to its purchase cost to incorporate the overheads of running the car including insurance, fuel, administration, and so on. In the case of medical insurance, if your organisation is able to obtain a discount through bulk buying, you could apply a weighting to the purchase cost to show the cost if the employee were to buy an individual policy. For non-enhanced options, apply a weighting of 1.0.
