Course Maintenance
Enables you to create and maintain details of courses. Many of the values you specify here are used as default values in Course Events.
General
Short Desc, Long Desc
Enter a short and long description of the course.
Course Type
Enter a course type code to categorise the course, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the TRGCRS narrative category.
Sub Type
This field is only enabled if the MISC > TRAINING > CRSESUBTYP system parameter is set to Y. Enter a course sub-type code to further categorise this course, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Dependency Selection. The options are set up in the TRGCRS narrative category and only those that are associated with the course type selected in the previous field are available.
Oth. train
Enter Y to indicate activities that are undertaken by the individual without the support of a course infrastructure, for example, home study.
Note: If you enter Y in this field, you are prevented from entering course specific information such as location, tutor etc.
e-Learning
This field is only enabled for e-Learning type courses. Click window to display E-Learning Details, where you can view further details about the e-Learning course.
Attendance
Enter a course attendance type code or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the TRGATT narrative category.
Int/Ext
Enter I if the course is internal or E if it is external.
Min/Max Attendees
Enter the minimum and maximum number of candidates who can attend the course at one time.
Designer
Enter the name or job title of the person who designed the training course, if required.
MyView Reserve Max
Enter the maximum number of reserve places that can be booked on this course via MyView.
Supplier
If the course is external, use the Supplier field to record the name of the supplier providing the course. A supplier may supply and run the whole course, or just provide a course tutor. Enter a supplier code or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Supplier Selection.
Duration
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type courses. Used in conjunction with the Period field to record the length of time the course runs for. Duration holds the number of units representing the course length.
Period
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type courses. Used in conjunction with the Duration field to record the length of time the course runs for. This field indicates the units of measure in which the duration is specified (enter H for hours, D for days, M for months, or Y for years).
Concurrent
Select this field if this course is allowed to be run concurrently with other courses. This is intended primarily for long term, part time courses that would allow shorter focussed courses to be done during their duration.
Start/End Time
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type or Concurrent courses. Enter the usual start and end of the course. This is used as the default value in the Course Events screen.
Security ID
Enter the security ID associated with the selected course, or select one by clicking window to display Security ID Selection. The security ID entered here limits operator access depending on the security IDs specified at either operator level or in their security profile. If this field is blank, all operators can access this course.
Note: The security ID defaults to the default security ID specified at either operator level or in your security profile when creating a course. The security ID specified at operator level is used first if it is available.
Session
Enter the session type to indicate how often the course is run, or select one from the drop-down list. The options are set up in the TRGSES narrative category.
Default Venue
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type or Concurrent courses. Enter the code of the default venue where the course will be held, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Venue Search and Selection.
Default Room
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type or Concurrent courses. Enter the code of the default room to be used at the specified venue, or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Select Room.
Default Tutor
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type or Concurrent courses. Enter the code of the default tutor for the course or select one by clicking WINDOW to display Tutor Search and Selection. This is used as the default value in Course Events.
Default Coord
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type courses. Enter the default coordinator for the course, or select one by clicking window to display Select Coordinator. This is used as the default value in Course Events.
Auto Update Attainments
Enter Y if you want to be able to amend candidate attainments. Select Course Attainment is then automatically displayed when you enter a candidate's results in Course Attendees to enable you to update their attainments once the course is finished.
Status Set
Enter the ID of the status set that applies to this course, or select one by clicking window to display Status Set Selection. This determines the various statuses candidates attending the course can be assigned.
Repeat, Period
Enter the number and the units to specify the renewal period for this course, for example 6 M indicates a renewal period of 6 months.
Note: A new training requirement with a status of REPEAT is created, based on this renewal information when a candidate is booked on a course event. This updates Maintain Training Required and Maintain Waiting List accordingly.
Obsolete Date
Enter the date on which this course becomes obsolete. You cannot generate a course event that starts or ends on, or after this date.
Buttons
Notes
Click this button to display Course Notes Selection, where you can view or amend various notes associated with the training course.
Evaluation
Click this button to display Training Evaluation Forms, where you can attach eForms to be used for the training evaluation.
MyView
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type courses. Click this button to display Course Available, where you can specify whether the course is available in the MyView Training module.
Costing
Click this button to display Course Costing Details, where you can specify costs associated with this training course.
Qualifications
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type courses. Click this button to display Qualification Components, where you can view which components link to this training course.
Click this button to display Course Email, where you can specify details of the email that should be automatically sent when an employee on a future dated course event for this course is made a leaver.
Add Defaults
This field is not enabled for e-Learning type courses. Click this button to display Course Additional Defaults, where you can specify two further default venues, rooms and tutors for this training course.
